With more than 1,000 runners already registered for places, Williams is looking forward to the big day. Owen Duncan, head of business at Williams Rochdale BMW, said: “We are glad to see our staff team signing up for the run and pulling on their Maggie’s tabards as they keep up their training regimes. As a family business, we encourage our colleagues to pull together to help good causes where we can, and we will be once again matching all fundraising done by our teams.”
Councillor Sue Smith, cabinet member for communities and co-operation at Rochdale Borough Council added, “Whether it’s one mile, 10K or the half, we all have the potential to raise vital cash for some really deserving causes and it’s wonderful to see so many running for charity again this year, making every step count. I’ll be there cheering everyone on. We will have over a thousand runners taking part and I hope residents will come out and cheer them on too. There’s always a good atmosphere at the start and finish by the town hall, and many other great vantage points along the routes for spectators, including around Hollingworth Lake and in Broadfield Park.”
All races will start and finish on The Esplanade, they will be chip-timed on fully marshalled traffic-free courses, with a technical t-shirt and medal handed out to finishers.
Since 2015 over 5,800 people have taken part in the event, which takes in the town centre and picturesque countryside scenes including Hollingworth Lake. The event is co-ordinated by local running experts from Rochdale Harriers, Middleton Harriers, and Rochdale Triathlon Club supported by Rochdale Borough Council.
